The scarlet macaw, or guacamaya, was very special to the people of Paquimé, providing a physical connection to their spiritual world. They were brought from southern tropical regions and raised in cages. The inhabitants worshipped them with rituals in their temples and the beautiful bird's images were found on numerous objects during the excavation of this site.

Don't forget to bring a hat to take it all in as there is no protection from the bright sun.
